Quick Start guide isn't syncing the license for promoter

I've installed the beta TEC and ET as well as the correct TEC Pro and ET+. Promoter quick start guide is still asking to enter license to site settings. Site settings show it as a valid key. Is this because I am using a staging site?

Thank you for contacting us!

Though we aim to be as fast as we can, we are currently experiencing a very high volume of support requests.

That means there may be a longer delay (of upto 4 working days) before we can respond. Please be patient — rest assured we will follow up as soon as possible and we're actively working to increase the support team's overall capacity to get things back to normal :-)

Please also note that we do not typically provide support over the weekend. Rest assured we will follow up as soon as we can and in the meantime you may wish to try some of these steps:

  • If you are experiencing technical difficulties, and you have not already done so, please do take a moment to run through our standard troubleshooting steps (preferably on a staging or testing site).
  • It is possible that the technical difficulty you are experiencing is being caused by a known issue: check out our list of high-priority bugs for more information.
  • If you are reaching out on behalf of a client, or from an email address we might not recognize, please follow-up with a note of your license key and/or an email address that we will recognize.

We look forward to working with you :-)

Good evening @srcknarf @MartinPfeiffer and @biztraffic,

Thank you for reaching out.

From the looks of it, there is one step missing on all of your installs.
More specifically, can you make sure you complete step 6 of the instructions found here: https://support.theeventscalendar.com/329824-Promoter-Beta-Setup-Guide- ?

That should fix it and allow you to continue testing :-)

Let me know how that goes.

Best regards,
Geoff B.

Hello again @srcknarf and @biztraffic,

I already replied to Martin in another thread, but I was wondering if you guys were using a local testing installation or if your testing environment is on the web?

Have a great day!

Hi Geoff, thanks for your reply. I'm trying this on a staging site that is live and on the web. I've completed step 6 of the guide and get it says that the license is valid. Any other ideas of what the problem might be? Will be happy to send you the link to the site in a private msg.

Cheers

Martin

Geoff,

Same as Martin. Staging site is live and on the web. Step 6 was completed and says license is valid.

Hello again,

As an additional troubleshooting step, would it be possible to get your website's URLs ?
For privacy reasons, you could use geoffroy@tri.be (I do not reply to emails sent there, but I will be able to read them).

Have a great day!

Good evening to all,

I have an update on the cause of this issue.

What is going on is that certain domains are being blocked from our license validation engine (due to several security reasons).

  • The presence of "staging" in the domain or subdomain
  • The presence of "dev" in the domain or subdomain
  • myftpupload domains
  • mybluehost domains
  • dreamhosters domains
  • lightningbasehosted domains

Provided you stay clear of any of these, Promoter should work like a charm.

Our apologies for the inconvenience caused by these security measures.

Best regards,
Geoff

Good evening guys,

Just a quick note to thank you all for participating in our Promoter Beta.

Your efforts certainly helped us make Promoter better.
We will be closing this forum shortly as Promoter is pending release.
